I’ve recently been meditating with Sunstone, as I’ve heard that it’s one of the most mystical of the entire Feldspar family. Sunstone is reputed to be great for mirror work and will remind the user that all the magical tools are within! Remember, all spiritual work is actually an inside job!
All of the feldspar minerals help with moving into the light of consciousness and with increasing the will and fortitude to self-reflect. The feldspar family includes, Amazonite, Labradorite, Moonstone, Bytownite (Golden Labradorite) and a few others. Sunstone is a stone that will help you trust yourself again and to just be yourself. Working with Sunstone can remind us that the Divine mind offers mercy and forgiveness.
Sunstone is a type of feldspar mineral with the chemical composition (Ca, Na)(AlSi2O8). It has a triclinic crystal structure and a hardness of 6-6.5 on the Moh's scale. Sunstone is formed in the Earth's crust, often in igneous rocks such as granite and basalt.
Sunstone has been used by cultures around the world for centuries. The ancient Greeks believed it to be a powerful tool for protection and used it as a talisman. The Native Americans believed it to be a sacred stone, using it in their spiritual practices to connect with the earth and the sun. In ancient Hinduism ,Sunstone was associated with the sun god Surya and believed to enhance vitality and energy.
Today, Sunstone is mined in various parts of the world, including India, Norway, and the United States. It is used in a variety of ways, including as a gemstone in jewelry, as a decorative stone in buildings and monuments, and even in solar panels due to its ability to conduct electricity. Sunstone is also used in alternative healing practices, such as crystal healing and Reiki, to promote creativity, vitality, and a positive attitude.
